Corsair hx750i vs seasonic prime platinum 750w

Hi, i need advice deciding between thesee 2 psu.

My antec neo eco died, and i thought it was a good power supply, but i just came to meet the psu tier lists and its below medium quality.

 

Since im in a new rig, i wanna invest in a good psu for peace of mind. 

 

What i know is that seasonic make their psu, and the corsair one, that particular model is made by CWT.

 

In terms of appeal, im inclined towards the corsair one, and it offer some software that seems useful (altough maybe the info that it gives is the same as hwinfo).

 

I have read a bunch of posts and people Always recommend seasonic, but watching some unboxings i dont know... I know its superficial bus corsair seems better product.

Seasonic PSUs are usually really good quality. They're Tier 1 PSUs.

The lower the tier number the better the PSU is (for example Tier 1 is best, Tier 7 is worst)

Both PSUs are Tier 1. Buy the PSU that's cheapest.

What are you powering?

If you're powering some SLI setup, and they cost the same, get the HXi. If you're running a single GPU setup, get a lower wattage unit. 

The Prime performs better, but the HXi has multi rail, software monitoring and it's significantly quieter.

You are basing your decision off an unboxing? You aren't repeatedly using a PSU in your hands everyday. It is going to be sitting in a PC so the unboxing experience doesn't matter. These are both Tier 1 PSU's so I would get whichever is cheaper. Which will probably be the Seasonic PSU.

 

The voltage control software included with the Corsair unit is extremely useless, it has never caught on with any other manufacturer and Corsair has had this stuff for 5 years already. I have a Corsair RM650i, I tried used the software once, then uninstalled it because it doesn't even matter and I wish I never paid $40 to get the RMi over the RMx. 

 

I would also look at the EVGA P2 unit if it is cheaper.

anyhow, in an unboxing you can view the product, and i was just pointing out that it SEEMS a better product.

 

so the software isnt much, huh? Between these 2 actually the corsair is 10 dollars cheaper. Which one would you choose?

 

I also noticed that, i mean that they are both tier 1 psus. But it kinda worries me that this model of corsair is made by CWT, while almost all other corsair units are made by seasonic.... dont you see something fishy there?

Im powering a ryzen 5, sapphire rx580 special edition rig.

 

I know its overkill, but im getting these 750 units for a good price and i guess the headroom is a nice to have. Also i believe ill be in the top le the efficiency curve with a 750, but im not that sure of that

Yeah, the software is a marketing gimmick that never caught on. I can see it being interesting for some people, the best feature is that it lets you know your power draw. I don't care for that because I already have a UPS, and TBH it doesn't really matter to me. Most people don't really care either which is why it typically is not worth the extra money. Bu If they cost the same then get the Corsair unit. I would not worry about the manufacturing it is a great PSU.
