Anything with 'buy it now' with insanly low prices, are fake. its rather easy to notice.

Though i agree, it would be nice if Ebay could do somthing to stop this.

Ebay is an absolute joke. These are the top 5 search results for a Nintendo switch, when you put the "under £200" filter on. This isn't even it, if you scroll down, there are so many more. These are all from accounts with 100% positive feedback, but they have been hijacked and reactivated. People are actually buying these (I almost did), some of the listings have sold over 10 units in under an hour. Ebay removes them in an hour or two but by this time many people have already bought a unit. I don't understand why ebay isn't doing anything about this, it has actually made me stop using the site, because it's really hard to find a legit good deal when there are so many of these in your search result. Please fix this.881016391_ebayisajoke.png.d700187706f7b004dd8ea15db4259192.png

eBay is pretty bad when it comes to scams & knockoff products.

Had my fair share of them already, luckily I never fell for them so far.

For anyone wants some tips I'll drop the ones I use:

Take them or don't, it's just advice not something you must do.

  1. Reputation - See if the seller has good reviews, some bad reviews are normal.
    1. Look out for fake review written in broken English and being extremely vague, you'll see what I mean when you see said reviews
  2. Join date - How long has this seller been active? While not the way of seeing if your guy is trustworthy, it helps to get some perspective.
  3. Read the description carefully - Some will say it is an "Original" product when in the description they change the brand to "Unbranded"
    1. This isn't a mistake, it's to prevent you from getting a refund.
  4. Common sense - if the price is too low to be true .. it probably is.
    1. Nobody is selling a Switch for $ 50 or a GTX1080 Ti for $ 145. You either get a fake one or just nothing at all.

My most recent purchase was a PS3 controller, anyone who tried to buy them on eBay knows it is a true hell.

The amount of knock-offs is insane, it took me a good 25 minutes to find two reasonably priced real ones.

Received it today, verified it and it is indeed real.

When the PC is acting up haunted,

who ya gonna call?
"Monotone voice" : A local computer store.

*Terrible joke I know*

I will add that bonus points are from reviewers who themselves have many reviews. If you see a positive feedback from 20 people with less than 10 reviews it's one thing but if bunch of people with 300+ or 1000+ reviews gave their opinion (ideally recently) then chances are much higher that the seller is legit.

I shop on eBay ALOTTT and one of the more recent scams thats becoming common is after you buy whats obviously a fake listing (Sometimes I do cause the customer support has yet to fail to help me get my moneyz back on scams) theyll close down the PayPal account you sent it too or something and eBay cant do anything to help you after like a day or so of you buying it. They will try to tell you they think its a scam but if you dont check till tomorrow or something its prob too late. Its happened to me once and its something we should prob raise awareness about.

eBay had a bad reputation shortly after they started up, then they worked to clean up their act and weed out the crooked vendors but now they have become an even worse haven for scammers, arbitrageurs (especially the Chinese ones), and Amazon Fulfilled Marketplace vendors (who do not disclose that they are Amazon Fulfilled Marketplace vendors). I used to do a lot of shopping on eBay but it has become my next to last resort for shopping, only one step above Amazon.
