2070 Vs 1080ti upgrade

Hi guys! 

Thinking of upgrading my 1070 as it is starting to reach its limits in modern titles at 2K high refresh rates. Just wondering if I getting a 1080 ti second hand for 800 ausd would be a better choice than getting a 2070 at about 200 more?

if fps is your main target, go for 1080ti.

but if you care about longevity 2070 would be great for its new features (rtx).

1080ti smashes 2070 in performance (until rtx stuff is involved) and cost less, it's a no brainer here

1080 Ti good sir. The 2070 is slightly above GTX 1080 speeds. DLSS will be a game changer if it catches on but that wont be for at least 2-3 years. RTX on the 2070 will be probably 30fps if the Ti is struggling.

1080ti should be compared to 2080, not 2070.

If you really want to compare with 2070, then you will find 1080 ti will be much more poweful than 2070 in traditional gaming, so go for 1080ti. (Used 1080ti is also a very good deal)

You're making a completely baseless statement. We have no idea how the 2080 Ti will perform with the RTX cores enabled.

From reviews i seen the 2070 is slower then the 1080ti and even vega 64 on some games.Get the 1080ti you'll be happier with it for the price.

Depends on if the game developers will spend the time/money to make it run on their games.And Amd is working on a open source ray tracing that might be better to be honest.And from what i have seen so far i hope they have a high end pc,Ray tracing needs a 6 core cpu to run fully now so it could get more demanding later on and need 8 cores or higher who knows really.

The RTX 2070 is comparable to the GTX 1080, NOT the GTX 1080 Ti....so, if it's between the two, the GTX 1080 Ti would be a no brainer.

Benchmarks place the 1080 Ti about 20% (+/- 5%) faster than a 2070 at 1440p.

 

Personally, I would get a highly overclocked 2070 for less than a stock 1080 Ti and know that I am future proof on some of the new techs.  But if you are only concerned about pure FPS, then the 1080 Ti is the better choice.

You aren't disproving my point. Ray tracing doesn't exist in a finished form yet (even the RTX demos didn't use the RT cores), so any statements made are just based on rumors and incomplete information.

yea for that, easy. 1080 ti = 2080. Around that.

 

2070 will deliver like 20-30% less performance, and will be only around 30% more from your 1070.

 

Will do a good job in 1080p 144 Hz, just need to check if your CPU delivers so high fps.

Yeah it looks like the 1080ti is the way to go for me right now especially with the used market pricing.

 

Definitely going to need a CPU upgrade as well but at least with the price difference i can upgrade from the i5 sooner.
