Apple vs Samsung After 1 Year

Alright, so I've been having a few issues with my Galaxy S8 that I've owned for about 9-10 months now, and I want to talk about (possible) planned obsolescence.

Samsung Galaxy S8

After having this phone for around 9-10 months it's not looking bright for this phone. After about 6 months I noticed a significant change in battery life. It wasn't by a substantial amount only about an hour to an hour and a half decrease, but it was a sudden change. This may have been caused by me, but I normally don't change my daily usage very much or often. The next thing that popped up was that over the past 2 months or so the phone has been having worse and worse lag spikes (MKBHD recently talked about how he was having a similar issue with his Pixel 2). This is my first time owning an Android device, so I lack experience in this issue. Then most recently I've noticed that when playing videos the audio will often dim as if a notification popped up yet none have.

Apple

The last iPhone that I had was the 7+ which I had for just over a year I believe. It had great battery life up until it's birthday when the overall battery health started dropping faster than what was normal in the first year. It started to lag a bit, but nothing too bad. that's honestly about it at least for this phone.

Closing Statements

I love Android, and I never want to go back to IOS. I think that S8 and the S9 look fantastic, but if this is a commonplace thing for Samsung then I NEVER want to go back to Samsung ever again. Between the awful Android skin (not the worse but still stock android is FAR better) and the bloatware (not to mention the rebranded stock Android apps that are preloaded with Samsung)  it makes it hard for me to recommend to someone to get a Samsung device. I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts on this and your experiences.

I probably hold the record for the least number of posts to get Linus to respond to me :)

Flagship phones really aren't for everyone, especially if you like messing with shit.

I'm more of an iOS guy but I usually don't harp on Android because I've never got much of a fair chance to use it. Such is life, though, and everyone likes their experiences to be their own.

I think we're heading into an era of you buy it, you toss it. Very few phones today have everything that one would want. I'm sticking with the SE until I feel like upgrading to a 7 or 7+ (which I've owned as well) or a Note 4 (I've owned, it died, Samsung gave me a Note 5 as replacement... #worstupgrade).

I can definitely see what you said for "you buy it. you toss it." because I had the Iphone 6 for 2 years then the 7+ for like 13 months and i'll probably only keep my S8 for a few more months before I upgrade to something like a Pixel 3.

I always loved jailbreaking my iPhone I want to root my S8, but I feel like it's quite a bit more complicated than with IOS sadly.
