Streaming files and copying with raspberry pi zero

hi, I am newbie on these things becouse I was focused on my college, anyways is there a way to send a file from a server to my pc with a raspberry pi zero? (automatically). I mean if a new file is added to a server and the rspi zero is in connection to it, can it send the file to my computer and how?

 

what exactly I want to do: can a raspberry pi COPY a file of a local file server and send it to my pc anonymously?

Why type of server?

 

You can send files to your pc with cifs transfers with samba.

the big question is what kind of server we are talking about, you will probably not even need a raspberry pi in between.
