Possible to to have top-mounted 280 mm RAD + 5.25" ODD in Fractal R6?

Has anyone attempted to install a 280mm Rad in the top of an Fractal Design R6 along with a 5.25" ODD? According to the manual it is not possible, but to my eye it looks like it should fit. Considering you should be able to top-mount a 420 mm RAD, there should be space enough for a 280 + 5.25", should it not?

I agree, it's difficult to see why it wouldnt. Maybe thats just in the "standard" layout?

Historically this is because it would hit motherboard heatsinks. Yloou can most definitely mount the radiator up top, but you may not get your motherboard in, therefore, incompatible.

? What does mobo have to do with mounting rads and ODD?

Because a Radiator + Fan is actually quite thick, even if you use slim radiators. Take for example in the Define C, which is a bit shorter than the R6 but the story is similar.

The rad+fan hangs over the memory with a 240 mm radiator, with a 280 this would be a big collision. And so in even if the R6 is a bit taller and probably clears the RAM okay, you still have the top VRM heatsink to consider.

Yes, I know what you mean, but that still has nothing to do with my issue, whether or not I can fit a 280 + ODD. Width is not the issue (since 420mm rad is possible), but length seemingly is.
