Blitzcrieg

I know crypto currency is the main reason for gpu's current pricing. But I was wondering how much ram pricing is a factor?

VRAM pricing is increasing the BOM of video cards by $20-30 but that's not a huge factor.

Well it is the reason MSRP is going up, and why supply can't be ramped up to meet demand more, so it is a large enough factor but mining demand and third party scalping are indeed the main culprits

I believe that the hardware manufacturer industry is missing a huge opportunity by not finding more ways of making hardware that caters to the mining industry. To me they look like a deer in the headlights. I see huge opportunity for profits by getting creative and making mining specialized hardware. I don't see the mining industry going away any time soon. People like Bitman are making money hand over fist by jumping on that opportunity. It just makes no sense to me. Shows a total lack of foresight and creativity on the part of the hardware manufacturer industry.

The figure I have heard is ~$30 for a 1060.  So likely $40 for an 8gb card.

In the 1050-1060 range, this is significant, and would account for the 1050/1050 Ti moving up in price by ~$25. (15%-25% price increase)
