Top Mounted Fan Vibration

FroxIV

Hello Guys,

I spend some money on NZXT Aer 140mm fans and put them in my S340 elite.

Airflow is better now with the 140mm fans , but i recive some problems with the top mounted fan. The Blades of the fans are possible to move up and down.

That causes a Vibration when the Fan runs. Is that a common problem with top mounted fans? My super cheap once i installed before got the same problem.

Someone got a DIY how to fix the movement?

Placing some weight in the middle of the fan would crash the balance of it.

Maybe i should return the fan and get a replacement one?

Its an noise problem they are mounted with screws. The Vibration even exists when fans not mounted. The horizontal position causes the blades to move when moving air. The movement causes a rattle when its moving up back to base.

Im wondering if its a bad fan or a typical problem with top mounted fans.

It seems you're not the only person with this issue: http://support.camwebapp.com/forums/252256-cam-bugs/suggestions/17664382-nzxt-aer-fans

Did you order the 3pin or 4pin variant?

The 3pin uses a rifle bearing which isn't optimal for horizontal mounting.

The 4pin on the other hand is advertised to use fluid-dynamic bearings which shouldn't have this issue.

Hey,

Im running the 4pin fans. Swaped one of my front intake  fan to exhaust and the virbration is gone. So seems to be a problem with that one fan.
