io sheild problems

LiCoHi

I'm building my pc and there ar these little metal tabs on the io shield and they are making it difficult to line my motherboard up with the standoffs without pushing the motherboard against the io shield. Is this normal?

The metal tabs are there just for EMI shielding , so that electromagnetic radiation from your computer doesn't affect other devices in your house. Unless you have some AM radio or some CB radio or something similar, you don't have to worry about them.

There's a "technique" to installing the motherboard, it works easiest if you slide it in at around 45 degree angle and then push it against the IO shield as you bring it down to the normal horizontal position. But, if you need to, you can bend those tabs more, until you can easily install the motherboard.
