Just joined not too long ago as well. 43% on my second WU on my laptop. My laptop's i7 chews through WUs faster than my rig's i5. Probably because of the hyperthreading.

Another update, however this one is not as grand...

I was looking to hit the gold Badge before the year's end, sooner than I had guestimated in the above quote.  (I discovered that not running utorrent overnight, increased my PPD)

Anyway.... Some of you may have noticed I haven't been active for almost 2 weeks now and a couple of weeks prior my PPD had halved as I was not folding 24/7 anymore but playing a couple of games.

And then this happened

I fried my TitanX !! ..I literally saw a plume of smoke emanating from one of it's IC's, I've RMA'd it but it can take up to 4 weeks apparently

In the meantime I've just swapped out the ram in my signature for 32GB of Dominator Platinum @ 3000 as I was running out (not folding, elsewhere)

Oh and I'm running on an Asus 980 Ti ...I'm not sure what my plans are now, re: folding ...I'll wait and see what Gigabyte say about the TitanX then decide. ...I did really want that gold badge ...currently I'm a little shy of 80M points.

Oh man - bad luck!  I hate it when that happens...

You must have been in just the right place to see that happen!  Can't say I've ever seen an IC go out; last plume of smoke I saw was from a cap in a PSU.

Any information you can pass on to the rest of us to keep from frying our video cards?

Like don't fold while playing Witcher 3 with 3 monitors at 4k?  :P

Hope your replacement does better than the last one!

Oh man, that sucks... when you see the smoke rising from the computer, your heart just drops...

Joined last week at folding and i'm on team Linus Tech Tips!

Is it safe to fold at full? My cpu gets 100% usage when i use full.

Use something like HWmonitor and keep and eye on temps. As long as they are good and you have good airflow, you shouldn't have any issues.

Hah yeah it did suck, But at least it made tracking down why my PC wasn't working fairly quick :)

I just got the card back, actually a brand new one, they (Gigabyte) just replaced the whole card, about a week ago.

Haven't put it back in yet, am currently using a 980ti Strix.

While I was there I upgraded my memory too, I think I mentioned that in a post above somewhere.  When I get round to putting the Titan X back in, I will also install the ram coolers that came with the Dominator Platinum DDR4

Still undecided about folding. I did really want that gold badge,  I'm tempted to fold again but with a standard clock.  I can't be certain but i do feel this had something to do with the Titan death.  I had it turned up a bit, including voltage, running 24/7.

Started folding again when im not gaming, got about 700k points in the last two days. I think I will be near 10 million by the end of the week.

My 980 ti matrix really chews through wu's! Last night I woke up after letting it fold for about 10 hours and it said estimated ppd was 740k!

Glad I bought the matrix and not another model, my temps sit in the 58-62c range while folding, memory gets about 60-64 and the vrm does the same as the memory.

I'll be putting a universal Waterblock on it soon, so I'll see what memory temps hit after that, and point a fan at it accordingly. Gpu core temps will only be 30-35 after I watercool though :)

Not sure if someone does this regularly or not, but since it's the beginning of a new year I grabbed some screenshots of the current progress and rank. I also can not wait to get an EK Predator AIO for my 970 as the fan is damn loud haha.

So with folding and after getting a passkey, you have to finish a certain amount of workunits (I think 10?) to get the time return bonus. your 980ti should make i think 600k ppd on qrb's.

Just joined LTT and the team today lol, getting 300k ppd at medium(don't want to fry my 980 as its my only good card otherwise it's a broken 770 or a good 750ti) should I go for full or stay at medium my 980 is getting 65 degrees Celsius at medium and I really don't want to destroy it like my 770

Just to make you aware, there is little you can do to restrict the load on your gpu.

medium or full is pretty much irrelevant as far as the gpu is concerned. But 65

degrees  is barely even lukewarm, nowhere near any temperature i would find

questionable. I am pretty sure your 980 will do just fine.

Re-installed the TitanX around 3am last night lol ...I was bored and not tired. ,,,Started folding again, however no where near as aggressively. Overclocked the GPU slightly but no voltage increase this time around.  It's running @ around 52 Celcius.

I'm considering throwing the 980Ti in also for folding.  Man that card is huge, I hate it.

Decided to make use of some CPU this time too, with NaCl ...Never run this before.  Does it yield many points ?

I won't be folding 24/7 as before and I am not sure if I will continue after getting the elusive gold badge. We'll see.

It doesn't yeild a lot of points (nothing compared to GPU folding), but you can crank through a LOT of small WU's if you have that running on full on a decent CPU.
