i5-8600k temps

Well, my previous CPU was a i5-4690k and on 100# load it didn´t get higher than 60 C.

It might just be a fear from building my first setup with no help.

Is it just "Bro Science" that your CPU shouldnt be higher than 60 C with no overclock and a aftermarket cooler?

Thanks for replying!

Up to TjMax is okay, but the higher the temp, the higher the power leakage and degradation. But since you won't be keeping the CPU for lets say 10 years, temps around 70-80 are considered safe. Your 4690K had better thermal paste than the newer Intel releases, Intel is cheaping out, thus higher temps.

But yeah, bro science is wrong, don't let it fool you.

Hi guys!

I have a question about the temps in my build.

I have a Bitfenix Nova case with two 120mm front fans, and a masterliquid lite 120mm in a push config to the back.

My CPU is a i5-8600k.

My idle temp is about 28-30 C. During gaming with loads around 80-90% I get temps at 67-70 C.

From my perspective it seems a bit high, but can you guys pitch in?

Thanks!

70ºC isn't hight temperature. Do you overclocked the cpu?? If so, how much speed did you get?

No overclocking, just running stock speed which seems to suffice in getting ultra settings in the latest AAA titles.

Seems about right. Coffee lake runs quite hot but it can handle it so it's fine.

Temps will vary a LOT due to many factors, including but not limited to your room temp, airflow, cooler size/design/fan speed, CPU loading, how good the TIM is above and below the IHS. The only temp you need to care about is whatever Intel says it should be under. This doesn't necessarily apply when overclocking though.

Thank you for the input! I might buy another fan for the case to get a bit better airflow, but I can see the temp isnt going to do much harm. Thank you again!

Buying an i5 8600k and not overclocking it (at least for a few hundred megahertz), I can't understand that.

Why not? K variants have much better aftermarket prices and higher base and turbo clocks.

Well as my games become more demanding, I´m sure to overclock it a bit. But I really dont need more than 144 fps in any games thus far :)

I think the CPU cooler has to be switched later on to a bigger and better one for a decent overclock :)

seems right, check what voltage it is running on in windows, if it's 1.3~ 70C is perfectly fine, the stock voltages are way overkill for stock clocks. you can push ur clocks a bit higher with small temp increase. and anything below 85C is fine on full load.
