Corsair ML120 Pro Vs Noctua NF-F12 PWM Vs BL066 SILENTWINGS

joejak44

Just got a new build and im looking to put some new fans in the case and possibly on the CPU radiator. I don't use my PC as a work station but i do like gaming on the highest possible settings and im looking to start overclocking once i get the new fans. I doubt i will have serious cooling problems but id like to find a nice balance between cooling effectiveness and a quite system. Current config on the fans is two intake on the front, one exhaust in the back and the radiator is top mounted and also intake.

Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow Edition

CPU cooler: Corsair H100i v2

CPU: i5-7600k

MoBo: Maximus IX hero

Graphics: 1080TI strix

Monitor: AOC Agon AG271QG 27

I've done a bit of reading and narrowed it down to these three, but my search was far from exhaustive so if anyone has another recommendation i'd appreciate the input.

I'm not concerned with how the fans look to be honest, so the color options on the Noctua NF-F12 don't really appeal but i have heard really good things about the brand and considering all of these fans are about the same price i cant find a good way to make my final selection. /roll D20 ? Any help is appreciated thank you very much.

I had a ML140 and found it to be a noisy motherf*cker.  Not the worst, but for the price just not worth it at all.  NF-F12's are really solid and quiet fans.  And actually Noctua just released a new black series of fans (not just industrial ones) so look for them on amazon.  Have no experience with the Silent Wings, so can't say anything.

Another option I'd recommend are Cooler Master's BladeMaster 120mm.  PWM controlled, kinda noisy when they get to their higher speeds (although all fans are to some degree), but at lower speeds like you'd use on a radiator, they're pretty silent.  They also come with foam pads for the mounts.  Not my favorite dampeners but they get the job done.  A lot of cooler master's newer fans I've been disappointed in, but I've used the BladeMaster series for years and found them to be very solid.

What are your current temps and what components are you finding too loud?

I was playing pubg on ultra and my GPU was at 70c plus or minus, and my CPU was 49 plus or minus. GPU usage was at 99% with small quick dips into the 80s and 70s. CPU usage was 68% but was fluctuating much more.

These temps don't seem to be anything special and if my pc never got any louder id probably just keep my money, but once i start overclocking wont the fans speed up to compensate for the extra heat? Should i overclock first and see how loud everything is while bench-marking ?
