Windows 10 S is based off of Windows 10 Pro so no they wouldn't add that.

For better or worse, Windows Store isn't going anywhere. Many businesses have their own apps and stuff for Windows 10.

Alaska airlines for example has multiple Windows 10 apps (most are for employees whilst 1 is for consumers) and many other business have their own.

Oh shit well that's great news for people who frequently visit fucking Alaska and similarly fringe cases!

Seriously though their approach of "If you build it, they will come" here doesn't works even if they railroad people into it. If they could integrate the exact same win32 apps into the store seamlessly then maybe but even if it's a little bit of work most devs won't bother: Licenses ain't shit for most business even for medium to small business the cost of getting a decent licence package is not worth it vs re-developing all of your tools and bothering other companies to update for you if you depend on them (spoiler: ALL companies depend on others updating)

Microsoft we don't need 99999 versions of Windows, didn't you learn from 2006? Seriously just change Vista to Windows 10 in this video and its literally the same dumb decisions they made back then.

Didnt they learned their lesson from the RT fiasco? The store is full of bottom grade apps and i highly doubt any business would spend any money to move onto this dead platform.

Pay to disable win32 programs, for businesses which use proprietary software for thier entire workflow??

Whats next, paying to get a BSOD?

Microsoft seems to have lost its mind of late , they are trying to sell X number of different builds of Windows 10, they are increasing the market fragmentation which they were trying to combat with thier forced update system and leading to more issues for everyone.

This is a horrible idea for a lot of business/organizations as there is a lot of custom software that is not a part of the UWP/Windows Store, especially with accounting or legacy software.  As it is, there are a couple of applications that I run on a Windows 7 machine at work that were originally coded for Win95 and would suddenly become unusable as I have to make Registry Edits to keep them working.

Education is already based on Pro.

Server is not specifically branded as Windows 10.

it's Windows Server 2016.

No...

Windows 10 Education and Windows 10 Pro Education are separate versions.

The regular education version is based on the enterprise SKU while Pro Education is based on Pro.

Make companies buy new version that doesn't support their software, companies rewrite software in UWP, profit.

Seems to me that microsft are just trying to FORCE the market to the store rather than making UWP a place where the market wants to go.

With a platform that was originally made for phones then bodged to work on a desktop OS? No wonder both dev's and users pretty much ignoring it...

yeah, it's a nice idea that you create it once and it work everywhere. It's just badly done thus far.

Its a dumb idea, different type of devices have wildly different use cases, limitations, hardware, etc... If you try to create AIO solution for this the result will be the catastrophe that win10 is.

Was this the version of windows where it is more "secure" because you cannot install/download x32 or x64 applications?

I may be getting this confused with something else...
