Internet stutter but good connection

Mouse-Potato

Hi guys,

Like the title says, I have an issue with my internet, its DSL and I get about 15 to 30 ping, 55 down and about 15 up.

The problem is that sometimes most of the tie when I open a new page and do a search or go on youtube, it sometimes times our or take ages to load. I don't know what the problem is, I think it is very pronounced over Wi-Fi.

Has anyone ever experienced a similar problem?

(I just changed providers too so all the equipment is new, I have a Livebox 4 from Orange (France) that has the router incorporated in the modem).

Anything would help!!

I suspect it;s probably the DNS servers that your router is pointing to. Change the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (googles dns servers). That should maybe fix the problem. There is usually a guide for this on your routers manual.

Sounds like the connection is ok but perhaps something like DNS queries are slow, you could try adjusting your IP settings DNS server entry to google (8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4) to see if it improves

Ok, I have to figure out how to do that, is it a settings in windows or is it a setting somewhere else? I think last time I tried doing that it was the IP address linked to my modem, but, for some reason with this new equipment there isn't any settings menu or anything, all it gives me is info about hardware and connectivity...

You want to change the DNS settings in your router and not you computer?

The modem is locked son I can't customize the DNS, also I apparently have a problem with my hardware so I think Orange is sending out a tech to try and fix it. Will keep this thread updated once they come by and "fix it".

I mean, you could just change the DNS settings in your own computer
