Requirements:

be not too expensive, full modular, and at least 80+ bronze in canada

For that build you can get away with a 450W:

But if you want a bit more power on a still small casing:

(still has all-black cables)

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

Sleeve bearing fans last a bit less. I'm not a huge fan of them but as long as the PSU warranty is 5 years+, it's fine.

i would go for the G3 because that is a really good deal there and better electrical performance (and i think a longer warrenty)

Depends on the quality of the materials, quality and amount of the lubricant used.

Goes from utter garbage to perfectly fine.

Why swould you want a 10 year old plattform like the M12II??
That one is just not worth it. OK, 750W and above maybe. But 620W and lower is better avoided at all costs - there are just better options out there.

As for units:
What does Cougar LX 500 cost?
What does Bitfenix Whisper M 550W or 450W cost?

Yes and the M12II EVO also is shittier. Has no OCP on minor rails. So if you try to pull 50A @ 5V there is nothing stopping you, except for UVP.

All Wapanese Caps are irrelevant, they are all made in china if something comes from china due tu import tax.

Also the M12II EVO 620W and lower is group reglulated, something that should be avoided, if at all possible.

And a PSU can fail anytime, without notice, like it's the case with my Super Flower Golden Green based unit, that just died with no +5VSB.

So assuming that 'Wapanese Capacitors' = long life is just bullshit. That might have been the case with ancient designs, that had nothing else to fail and no noteworthy integratec cicuitry. But not so mich with modern units...

Like @jonnyguru mentioned a couple of times, FETs are far more important than caps are. And even 'bad caps' lasts for years and years in modern units, as they are not as stressed with modern highly efficient units as it was the case years ago...

And also the Taiwanese and Chinese manufacturers have cheaper and better series. Like Teapo ST. And I'd rather have Teapo ST in a PSU than Nippon Chemicon KZE.

The shit is just that complicated that you can't just reduce the lifetime of a PSU to one or two components...

For one, Seasonic's group regulated PSUs are still the best out there.

And for two, at these low power ratings group regulation is not an issue. The M12II is good not off its topology, but off its actual real world performance.
