k thnx but how much better is the G3

Like, if the M12II is a 8/10, the G3 is a 10/10, in rough terms.

If you have the budget for the G3, at $60 it's a steal imo

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

For one, Seasonic's group regulated PSUs are still the best out there.

And for two, at these low power ratings group regulation is not an issue. The M12II is good not off its topology, but off its actual real world performance.

For the time, maybe. But that was years ago...

Since everyone has to use the same components, there is no magic sauce...

Here some pics of the components and some kind of review of the S12II-520 Bronze:

http://en.gecid.com/power/seasonic_s12ii-520_bronze_ss-520gb_2015/?s=all

HY-510N for protection wich does only have UVP on 3,3V and +5V, NOT on +12V, NO OCP.

The fan starts spinning at around 100W, reaches 1550rpm at 200W load.

Today the S12II-Bronze isn't anything special and other options may be better, depending on where one lives, as there are units with DC-DC (or similar) available for the same or just a little more money.

Here I have the Option of:
Seasonic M12II-520 Bronze for 58€

Seasonic G-450 for 56€

Corsair Vengeance 550M for 60€

Corsair CX450M for 50€

Why should I get the M12II-520 for that Price??

I can get a unit with DC-DC for the same or less money!!

I can get other units that are superior in almost every aspect...

And that's what I meant. It's just too expansive for what you get and there are better options for the same price...

K thnx, how bad is a sleeve bearing fan actually? how big is the M12ii or Rosewill Photon

the fan is not that bad and you can replace it with a better one if you feel like voiding a warranty. it could even be RGB

Well, no.

Fan is a safety relevant component. When replacing you don't just void the warranty but also the safety certificate and thus the approval of the gouvernment.

If something like this happens:

It is YOUR Problem, because you modified the device, you have to pay for the damages, no insurance company will pay for it...
