Convince my moitor that 85hz is OK

I OC'd my monitor to 85hz, but the monitor's overlay saying "Input signal out of range" still appears even though my desktop, etc. is clearly working and visible at 1440x900@85hz. After about 30 seconds the monitor goes to sleep too. Anyone know how to "convince" the monitor it's all good and make it drop the overlay and stay on?

happens to my monitor but while doing 1080p 60hz with hdmi

try using another cable / another type of cable

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

this happened to me a couple of times, only with vga though. Now that ive switched to hdmi and display port it usually works just fine. There could be a couple of problems. One being that the monitor is not actually any higher than 60hz and you got scammed, or the cable could be giving you some trouble like the @themctipers said. Whichever it is you the best of luck and i hope i helped!

with my monitors I also try to stick with hdmi and DP and otherwise I'd use a DP to VGA adapter
