Get the 6GB, not only does it have more VRAM, but it's also a more powerful card.

RX 580 would be better than either. Although they are a little expensive atm due to low stock.

I do not associate myself with non Nvidia products. For Nvidia is god, Nvidia great, Nvidia is best lol. The pascal architecture and the coming volta i think will put a stomping on vega.

He isn't talking about Vega though. Just Polaris or whatever AMD's RX 580 architecture is. And it puts a stomping on Nvidia's 1060s.

If you can afford a 1060 3gb you can push for the 6gb. The real budget card is the 1050 ti. Skip the 3gb altogether.

Ik but with looking at RX 580 vs 1060 6gb you will pay a higher price for 2gb more of vram but a decrease of anywhere from 500-600 mhz clock speeds.

I was thinking of a 1050 ti but made room in my budget for a step up to 1060

Clock speed isn't king. That's why a Ryzen 5 1600 can meet or beat an i5 with a much higher clock, depending on whether the application is optimized for it. API's are generally well optimized for GPUs (Especially Vulcan for AMD), since they are specialized unlike CPUs which have to do everything. So GPU clock speed isn't king. My 980 Ti kicks butt compared to my 1050 Ti, but the 1050 Ti has much higher clocks.

Look at the RX 570 and 580. I know it's not Nvidia but this price bracket is where AMD shines.

@DrMacintosh I just looked and RX 570 4gb starts at 315 im seeing on pcpartpicker. For the same price you can get the 1060 6gb. For a 4gb card the 1050 ti is way better priced for a low end card that can do 1080p gaming

Like I said, pricing is messed up due to mining. $315 is very high.

It will be a few more months before i start buying the parts so we will see pricing then. Black Friday will probably be the big factor for what i will buy

Probably. Just don't make up your mind until its actually time for you to buy. Deals and stock could come up at any point.

Im seeing Dx12 and Vulcan(of course being a AMD software) performs better with AMD gpu's. Ive seen Dx11 performs well with Nvidia and they are currently working on a huge Dx12 driver update and also will have the Volta come with full updated support for Dx12. Vulcan currently doesnt intertest me at all since it has  been implemented in only about 7-8 games and i dont like any of them

True, just wait a bit longer, looks like the prices are going down slowly.

Special versions like PowerColor's Red Devil are faster than 1060.
