I'm looking to upgrade my pc and i have a budget around 700€.

Any parts that will not be used anymore can be sold, and that money can be used for the new PC.

I would however like to reserve a part of the budget for a new case, since i don't realy like the one i have right now.

The main use of my PC is picture edditing, and the second use is gaming.

If anyone has any recomidations that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

I would sell your MB and CPU, and buy a R7 1700 with a B350 motherboard and you can upgrade the GPU with the extra cash.

Spoiler

Main PC: CPU Xeon E3-1231 V3 - MB Asrock B85M Pro3 - RAM 16GB Kingston - GPU GTX 1070 Gainward Phoenix - PSU Corsair AX760i - Monitor  LG 22EA63 - Keyboard Corsair Strafe - Mouse Logitech G402 - Storage 2x3TB WD Green - 240GB OCZ SSD

With ethereum going back up, it might be useful to sell your 390 quickly since AMD GPUs have the edge in mining. Might grant you the extra cash to wait a while and pick up a 1070/1080. But I definitely agree with you.

Would the R7 1700 be worth the upgrade over the 6600k?

I was also looking at the i7 6700l & 7700K, since i wouldn't have to sell my mother board (looking at the used prices i wouldn't get much for that) that would be the cheaper option.

Or would the difference be worth the cost?

I don't have to spend the entire budget.

I feel like a 1080 would be a bit of overkill since i only use a 1080, 60hz monitor and i'm not planning to change that any time in the future.

Or am i wrong there?

The only reason to buy a i7 7700K right now is to play at 144HZ+, if you dont want to get an R7 1700, I would stay with your CPU and upgrade to some 6/8 cores later, your CPU is still great. If you dont want to spend the whole budget, but want to increase in gaming performance, I would sell your R9 390 while still miners are buying, and get some GTX 1070/1080.

PS: Since you are using 1080p 60HZ, there are no reason to change your PC for gaming right now. But for editing you can get a R7 1700.

sell off your 390, get a gtx 1080 and a 144hz/1440p monitor and sell off your old one. see if the money you have left is enough for an upgrade to an i7 6700/7700k used or new.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Sell your R9 390, sell your i5 6600k and sell that awful cooler. Purchase an i7 6700k or i7 7700k and a GTX 1080 or 1070, depends on what the budget allows. Buy a nice case, I recommend NZXT S340 Elite or Phanteks P400S TGE. Get a new cooler depending on how much money you have available, if needed, you can always get away with the 212 evo until you have enough money to buy a new cooler. Also remember to update your bios if you are going to be purchasing an i7 7700k as that will be required.

From what i found after some reasearch it is claimed that the i7 7700k works better with photsohop & lightroom than the R7 1700 and even the r7 1800x.

And those are the programma i use the most.

The only thing i'm afraid is of upating my bios as i have never done that before.

I'm not gonna sell of my monitors, i prefer it this way.
They are great for photo editing and that is my priorety.

So the 1080 is probebly overkill?

Yeah i read about updating my bios, a 1070& 6700k or 7700k would fit my budget.

Is there much difference between the 6700k & the 7700k?

I have never updated my bios so i'm a bit scared to do so since i might fuck it up.

What cooler would you recommend? I was looking to change it when i change my cpu.

Their isn't much difference between the 7700k and 6700k. The newer 7700k is obviously slightly faster so I would recommend that if it fits your budget. As long as your careful whilst updating your bios, you should be fine. If it is something you don't feel comfortable doing, you can always just purchase a 6700k and deal with the minimal performance loss. With the cooler, it really depends on how much you are willing to spend. You can purchase something like the NZXT X52/X62 or you can go something more budget oriented like a Cryorig H7. Let me know how much you would like to spend on a cooler and I would be happy to recommend you one.

Sadly i can't find the Kraken x52 for a decent price out here, it would cost me atleast 180€

The H100i is only 110€ so that's a big price difference.

My budget is around that 110€, if i also want 6700k or the 7700k (price difference between those two is only 10€) & the 1070.

I'm just a bit scared that i brick my board gaga,

The H100i will be fine, it's a great AIO. It's up to you wether or not you would like to update your bios. You do have the risk of bricking it but as long as your careful, you should be fine. Look up a tutorial for your specific motherboard to help you during the process.

I'm just a bit worried about the noise level of the cooler.

Do you have any experience with that?

I have used the h100i before. The cooler is pretty quiet however, the stock fans on the radiator do get a bit noisy. What I did was change the fans a few months later and it's a lot more quiet now. Also, feel free to follow me if you would like to remain in contact on this forum and receive status updates/topics that I post.
