Will a 45w adapter power a 60w macbook Pro enough to reinstall OS x

Hello

So basically I'm looking to reinstall OS x onto my wiped macbook Pro but unfortunately my charger is broken and the only one I have available to me is a 45w macbook air charger, will this be enough to power a macbook Pro which is on around 30% battery until installation is complete?

I think so. Also, does your macbook pro still have the magsafe connector?

Yer it uses the magsafe 2 connector

Even if the Macbook draws more power than the charger can deliver, that shouldn't be a problem as long as the battery isn't completely empty.  When it needs more than the 45W that the charger can deliver, it'll just draw that extra power from the battery instead.

 

Ideally you'd make sure the battery is fully charged.  Still, 30% should be fine.
