CPU for light user.

Go to solution Solved by ImNotThere,

any build with g4560 is good enough

I'm just curious, if someone only uses their desktop to browse reddit, and watch some netflix, what kind of cpu should he buy?

Is i3 the minimum here? Or pentium will do the job just fine?

Is this build powerful enough for everyday light usage?

that link is messed up - shows the last system I looked at for me which is a 10.000$+ system. I guess that's not what you wanted :-)

for light tasks that are basically just web browsing a Celeron will even do the job tbh. or a C2D. hell even a 3+GHz P4 will be just fine if paired with 4+GB of RAM and an SSD

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Something new like an Intel Celeron G3930 is enough. In fact, for just internet browsing, anything in good condition and not old enough to be expensive is good enough,

Cheapest would be this one (no gaming rig, but really pure media consumption, browsing etc.; added a nvidia card for potential 4k netflix though there is no news yet).

This Build on the other hand, can be considered overkill, if it is only for media consumption, but if you are going to game and then some, then it is a fitting machine.
