Replace my Dell Inspiron 15 (7559) with a ASUS 15.6" FX Series Gaming Notebook

Hello,

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 (7559) around Christmas of 2016 as an upgrade from my old Toshiba Satellite; I was getting more into video production (Premiere, After Effects etc.) so I needed something a little better and efficient than the Satellite. Since the Inspiron had a GTX 960M, i7 6700HQ, 8G DDR3, 1T HDD etc., it was great for all my needs. It ran me $699 on Dell's website during their sale. ($799 Laptop everywhere else)

Now, I recently I ran into the ASUS15.6" FX Series Gaming Notebook; has an i7 7700HQ, 8G DDR4, 128GB M.2 SSD +1T HDD, GTX 1050 GPU etc. (Advertised for $849https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1321774-REG/asus_fx53vd_es74_i7_7700hq_16gb_1tb_gtx1050.html

I was wondering if selling my Inspiron 15, paying off the difference and getting the ASUS 15.6" FX Series Gaming Notebook for the increased performance out of the GTX 1050 and other components would be worth the money and hassle?

Thanks.

Hi

It would be better to save more and buy something with a GTX1060(6GB) in it

And if you don't need portability, you can build a powerful pc at that price range that works way better than your laptop

Specially if you go for a second hand GTX 10th series.

If you need more power and don't need portability , go for a pc

^ lowest end 1060 i would recommend. there are some cheaper ones like the GL or FX from MSI and Asus respectively, but those have real fucking issues.

Just to point out, the 960M is basically a GTX 750 Ti. The GTX 1050 is a GTX 1050. Not "there's a difference because laptop vs. desktop." GTX 1050s in laptops routinely perform as well as the desktop version.

So you'll be getting a nice performance boost anyway by going to a 1050 (or maybe it was the 1050 Ti)

The FX502 also has a horrible screen.  It's a shitty TN.  Saw it again recently.
