Then many miners will abandon it, attempt to recoup some money by selling their GPU's and systems which will flood the market with used GPU's and drive the prices for said items way down.

 

It's like buying a 2-3 year old card, still mostly new, the previous owner took the biggest depreciation hit and now you get a newish product at a discounted price.
