GTX 1080 or GTX 1070 sli

I'm looking at a new gaming laptop should I opt for the single 1080 or the dual 1070s in sli?

Budget is not an issue

Which one fits in your budget more evenly and SLI doesn't get supported in some games

sli is really dependent on developer support, so you won't get performance gains in everything from sli, but all games support single gpu. The general rule is best single gpu is better than lesser gpus in tandem

If you don't mind the price of dual GTX 1070 it's great, but can be more noisy

Dual 1070's should be faster theoretically and in synthetic benchmarks, but like someone above said, it could be poorly supported, SLI has some quirks. In some games that dont scale well, 1080 might be faster. I'd say I would go for single 1080 personally.

Look up some SLI benchmarks for games you are likely to play, and see if they support SLI properly.

Neither get a aftermarket cooled 1080ti.

Edit: saw this was for a laptop. I'd say never spend that much on a laptop. Just get one with a 1070 and build a desk top with the rest of the money.

CPU: 6700K Case: Corsair Air 740 CPU Cooler: H110i GTX Storage: 2x250gb SSD 960gb SSD PSU: Corsair 1200watt GPU: EVGA 1080ti FTW3 RAM: 16gb DDR4

Other Stuffs: Red sleeved cables, White LED lighting 2 noctua fans on cpu cooler and Be Quiet PWM fans on case.

There needs to be pinned "Single or SLI" thread.  I swear there is a new thread every hour, always about a 1070/1080/1080Ti.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

The 1070 delivers 80% perfomance of the 1080.Two 1070's will beat a 1080 whether they scale bad or somewhat good.
