scrap yard wars Copying "Scrap Yard Wars" in our county

Hi guys (especially LINUS),

 

Are we allowed to copy the "Scrap Yard Wars" series in our country (Austria), making videos like you guys do.

We will also credit You for inventing this series!

We here have a pretty descent computer parts site,

where useed components are very cheep and easily to get so we thaught it would be nice to make this too.

Austin did something similar, but the format was totally different. They bought a entire PC and then try to upgrade it.

it will be fine.

You can copy the format ie set budget and time etc, you just wont be able to use the name "scrapyard wars"

As long as you use a different name and use a different format I don't see why you couldn't.

You can do literally the same thing as long as you don't call it scrap yard wars you won't infringe on any copyright.

I don't say anything about rights. LMG doesn't hold many/any copyrights and wouldn't have money nor power to fight them. Yet. I think FPC will make things very different.

 

Could you do something like SYW? Possibly. But not using name as is. Copying something is also bit sketchy. You can gain viewers with that tactic, but in the end you need some original ideas to success. Otherwise you will be remembered as those guys who copy others.
