Why isn't the creators update for W10 showing up in Windows update?

Bleedingyamato

I had done a clean install of W10 Home a little over a week ago and every time I look in Windows update it says the creators update is "on its way" and despite checking for new updates multiple times it claims I'm up to date.  Which is a lie if I don't have the creators update.

Why isn't the creators update available as part of the normal Windows updates like every other update has always been so far as I know?

The update is a gradual release update. Meaning they slowly push the update out in batches to stop some unforeseen bug from wiping out the whole Windows user base.

You can download it manually here if you want it now :https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Intel I9-9900k (5Ghz) Asus ROG Maximus XI Formula | Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR4-4133mhz | ASUS ROG Strix 2080Ti | EVGA Supernova G2 1050w 80+Gold | Samsung 950 Pro M.2 (512GB) + (1TB) | Full EK custom water loop |IN-WIN S-Frame (No. 263/500)

The update was released several weeks ago I believe it was so we should be past the gradual point if there was one.  By now it should simply be available.

Anniversary update wasn't immediate either. Gradual helps to check for bugs and incompatibility with various software. Push everything at once to find out that one specific software used by 100k people doesn't work... not good. Especially those proprietary loads. We shall see.

But yes, use Windows Upgrade Assistant to do the job.

I think you spelled "glacial" wrong.  lol

Is that what the link Altecice posted is for?    I'm on my iPad atm so it routes me to a ISO download for W10 since it detects I'm not on a PC.

its because you aren't registered as a creator :-p

Can I register as stressed and annoyed?  ?

I did a clean install to fix a few issues, which may or may not have fixed the keyboard/mouse activation delay during bootup, this update delay is one more thing slowing down getting my computer set up again.  ?

I think I'd feel safer waiting for Windows update but it's nice to know I could force it if I wanted to.

As mentioned it is released in waves. However, Microsoft does put additional delays to systems that have been found out to have hardware issued with the update until a fix is done (from the manufacture or Windows itself). If you want to ensure that everything works right, then it is best to wait for the update to arrive. Some people, back with the Anniversary Update, had to wait a few months before they get it. I am not saying you will wait as much time, but it is possible. You can force it if you want, but Microsoft doesn't really recommend it if you don't know what you are doing, as you might have performance issues, stability issues, or the update might fail and might need a clean install with the Creators Update as the only way to get it due to a bug with the upgrade system or driver compatibility issue, or security software compatibility issue (in the past some Anti-virus were found to panic during the upgrade process and break everything, where a revert or clean install would be needed. This is a recurring issue with any big updates of Windows, including Service Packs in the days).

I had the update before the clean install so idk if I had a hardware related issue that would cause Windows to continue to delay the update.

I guess I'm stuck waiting.

Here is the link for upgrade assistant: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

Different link than the other guy. My desktop upgraded automatically, but had to curve it for my wife's HP Spectre and my MSI laptop.

I think I'll just wait in case that has less risk of issues while updating.

But thank you.  I appreciate you showing me the link.

Curve it?  You mean manually download and install it yourself?
