I Want A Good Cooler for my secondary PC as its been using a intel stock cooler to cool its i7 4770K since 2013 and i feel its been an injustice to the CPU, anyway is the masterliquid lite 120 worth it over the hyper 212 evo

Imho no 120mm rad aio is worth its money, the trouble with the hyper evo though is if you're case has room for its height.

if just saw that amazon has the 240mm seidon AIO for the same price, is that worth it over it?

Both are not worth it, get a decent air cooler from Cryorig (H7, H5 etc), Noctua or Be Quiet!

is the seidon 240v worth it at £45? and i wont buy noctua simply because of the fans

also got any decent recommendations as my second rig is in the old Coolermaster 690 II Advanced so im not really sure what i can actually fit due to clearance

AIOs are not that bad, but you can get around the same cooling performance for lower price with air cooling.

I would go with dark rock 3 .... it's very silent and can cool down 190W of heat, so more than your CPU will ever produce.

Intel i7 12700K | Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 | Pure Loop 240mm | G.Skill 3200MHz 32GB CL14 | CM V850 G2 | RTX 3070 Phoenix | Lian Li O11 Air mini

Samsung EVO 960 M.2 250GB | Samsung EVO 860 PRO 512GB | 4x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 140mm fans

WD My Cloud 4TB

Dude, buy the 212 evo. I wasted my money on a Cooler Master Seidon 120v. I ended up selling it 2 months later for half the cost and buying the 212.

At the budget end, air wins hands down over water. get a cheaper end one from cooler master, be quiet or cryorig.

If you make a post contradicting mine that doesn't directly address my claims, or cites 'facts' without evidence, I'm probably not going to bother responding to it, because you probably didn't bother reading my post properly, and because life is too short. It doesn't mean I don't have an answer for you. It means I'm not dignifying you with a response.

212 Evo is mediocre

AIO normally sucks, don't get one, buy a decent air cooler instead

It might be mediocre, but its a long way from all the leak scares and loud pumps that the cheap AOI's give. If you have mor emoney buy the bequiet one, but other than that a 212 will suffice

good choice, try a push/pull config if you want to get the most out of it. CM include extra fan mounts so you can do so

good choice! cheap AIO's really arn't worth the hassle, as you really don't want to cheap out on products containing water right next to your expensive hardware. not to mention cooling performance is usually pretty mediocre aswell.

Well.. Yeah it is mediocre, I think that's kind of the point.

A good step up from a stock cooler, offers mild overclocking potential and silence.

Generally good for the money.

AIO's aren't bad though, are they?

Most 240mm (and up) AIO's will outperform the most high performing Aircoolers. (or at least perform equally good)

One good thing about having radiators/AIO's often means LESS fans since you can use the ones on the case or replace them with the ones that come with the cooler.

Having a tower means 1/2 EXTRA fans in the middle to cause extra noise/space.

In this case I recommend the 212 Evo over a single 120mm.

But overall I recommend either a 240mm (or more) as an AIO or a highperforming Airtower.

Airtowers like:

  • Noctua D14/D15
  • Cryorig Ultimate H5
  • Dark Rock (Pro) 3

Aircoolers tend to be cheaper.

Good watercoolers:

  • NZXT Kraken series
  • Corsair h100i v2/110i/115i
  • Seidon

Ïf you're in need of a new cooler - don't cheap out.

You'll just be disappointed with the performance again otherwise :)

They will perform equally good.

AIO will give better temps at start because water has larger heat capacity than air and it needs more heat to heat up/it can store more heat. But after using for heavy task like gaming for a while, the temps will start to increase and soon they will perform equally with air coolers. My explanation may not be perfect (even may wrong) but yeah, that's what I know about AIO.

If they are equally good, there's no reason to get AIO since AIOs are usually more expensive than air coolers.

Yeah if temp are steadily hot the water will also get hotter, I know the deal :P

But it can also be a matter of aesthetics, AIO's can be very appealing.

The evo would be a lot more reliable than a cheap AIO however may run cooler for the mean time, if you upgrade often get the AIO if not the evo.

If you get an AIO the coolermaster seidon series has good reviews:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Master-Seidon-RL-S12V-24PK-R2-Radiator/dp/B00N93KIES/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1494006533&sr=8-8&keywords=coolermaster+cpu+cooler

I have a 212x and it runs really well on my 4690, around 55 whilst playing r6 1080p medium

Man I'd honestly rather just buy a Noctua NH-U12S or NH-D15...

They are great and quiet as fuck. Also if you switch mobos you can get a new mounting bracket for free. The cooler will outlast your PC by a long shot..
