Gaming on a Dell

So my main gaming PC died and I'm just going to by a Dell and add a new PSU and GPU and I had a few questions

The Dell I'm going to get is an Optiplex 7010 SFF

It's specs are a I7 3770 16GB RAM 128gb boot SSD and 2TB HDD

The question I had are

Is the Motherboard standard ATX?

Is the PCI-E slot 16x electrically or just physically?

Would a RX580 work with the motherboard?

Would a RX580 be bottlenecked by the I7 3770?

Is the front IO standard connectors or is it proprietary?

Would a Hyper 212 be able to mount on this motherboard?

Thanks in advance

I don't believe they're upgradeable like that. Likely better off stripping it and starting in a new case with a new (used) motherboard.

Kiss of death. SFF Optiplexes are terrible choices for gamers. The power supply is proprietary and non-upgradeable, and it lacks the juice for any form of upgrade. There are worse things in life than an SFF Optiplex with an i5-2400S and a low profile GPU strapped in for e-sports and Minecraft, but in general, SFF Optiplexes and Elites make for terrible gaming PC conversions.

It has 2 PCI-E 16x slots and uses ATX power supply connectors so it is upgradable I'm just not sure how far

This SFF has a ATX 24pin and 4pin cpu power connector on its motherboard

Oh? Because when I look at pictures I don't see any expansion slots on the rear of the case. I also don't see a card fitting in there, as it'd be too wide.

It has 2 16x slots on the SFF motherboard and for physical size I don't care how it looks, if need be I'll cut the case up and make it a test bed style case. I just am wondering if it is a 16x slot electrically

Meaning I can upgrade the power supply to a 500watt from EVGA

Why not just buy a tower? By the time you're done with this SFF case, it's going to be mechanically unsound and look like a three-year-old got a hold of a miter saw.

I'm only able to get a PC through staples.ca as I get an employee discount, that is the only reason my parents are helping pay for the new one

Can you get a tower off of Staples.ca? You've got the right idea and the specs look great, but you're going to have a much harder time upgrading a SFF case, and it's going to look like crap and have zero resale value when you're done.

I agree. You're going through a lot of effort to save $30.

In that case, yes, you can do everything you want to with the SFF case. It's entirely likely that you damage something while making Swiss cheese of the case so it fits a 580, an ATX PSU and a 212 EVO, thus making the whole exercise a waste of time and money when you could have just bought a tower and been in a minimal risk plug-and-play situation.

Would it be possible to gut the system and just put it in my old thermaltake v3?

I doubt it. The Optiplex SFF motherboards tend to be a proprietary form factor, and the 7010 is no exception.
