Who copied who?

Guest lilbman
Go to solution Solved by ARikozuM,

Nahimic doesn't seem to be "owned" by MSI, so it is possible that they licensed the software package to Alienware under the condition of a skin change.

I happened to notice that the audio software MSI uses is AWFULLY similar to the one Alienware uses.  Is it me or is one a skin of the other? Left one is MSI software, right one is Alienware.

It could be by the same company, i.e. Realtek, but they ask for the UI to include their logos.

My answer would be "neither".

I don't think Realtek made it, as Nahimi is not owned by MSI.  Think Nahimic licensed it to AW?

I don't know who made it. I said Realtek as an example. You can find their chips and software are almost any consumer board.

It's likely Alienware uses Nahimic and Dell got permission to skin over their stuff.

No one copied anyone here - they license the software from Nahemic directly, allowing them to have their own logos and UI modifications baked into their specific version of the software-based audio "improvements" that Nahemic provides.

Nahemic Audio is a completely independent company that was formed out of A-Volute, a company specializing in 3D sound for the French Military. You can read more about them on their own website, and because no one bothered to research anything, I've also attached a screenshot of their WHOIS information for their domain name.
