Linux (most flavors) allow you to run from a Live Disk (which could be an actual disk, a flash drive, an external HDD) which does not install anything locally.

The system is essentially the same after you're done using Linux on it. You just shut down, remove the live disk and reboot to whatever OS is installed.

same as a windows to go (WTG) drive, on a computer without a bios lock I can boot my own windows on any computer I want and it will be as if I was never there when I shut it down and unplug my WTG drive.

if your concerned about this happening to you if your on windows put in place a bios password (prevents changing of the boot order) and encrypt your drives. (even if they somehow can boot they cant read data from your drives) and as for mac I don't know I don't have one but I suspect there is a similar way to do it.

Most Linux distros Ive used had a live CD portion. This way you can test out  the OS before you install it, to make sure everything works.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
