SSD Storage

Christanoid

Hello,

I recently got notified, that my storage on my SSD was running low, so I went checking and my Explorer tells me, that I used 88,2 GB of my 102 GB of SSD storage. Going into the SSD I marked everything and looked up the details, here Windows tells, that the size of everything on the disk is only 53,4 GB.

So here is my question: Does anybody have an idea, where my 34,8 GB of should be free storage went?

And sorry if this is in the wrong topic or if anything is wrong with this post, it's my first one in the LTT forums.

That usually won't show hidden and system files and folders.

Open the Disk Cleanup utility and go from there.

Also, since SSDs are quick, you can select the "Compress this drive" option in the drive properties, you'll save space and it won't hit performance much (at least not enough for you to notice).

Ah okay I understand. Sad to hear that I can not get these few GB back, but okay. Disk Cleanup utility only erased like 150 mb too.

The compression is something I never thought of, but I'll probably try it.

Thanks for the help ^^

EDIT: Using the Software TreeSize which was recommended to me too i saw that the folder System Volume Information is 24,2 GB big, although it is usually not supposed to be even a Gb as far as I know. I am currently trying to remove the content, but Windows won't let me do that as easily as I would like it too.

Make sure to tag people (like this @wkdpaul or quote them when replying, else we will never know)

That's where your restore points are (System Volume Information)

The Disk Cleaner tool has a section to remove system files like Windows Update cache and old restore points (look at where the pointer it);
