Watercooling the 780t

Started putting the hardware in, the blank on the rearside of the ek fc terminal doesn't clear my soundcard so had to go with tubing instead.

They support their new Protium reservoirs, including EK and Bitspower reservoirs.

 

I forgot what diameter of tube the mounts support, but in all likelihood they're not compatible with the XSPC reservoirs due to the large tube diameter and the newer Monsoon reservoirs due to the way they are assembled.

How did you get the Asus backplate to work with EK waterblocks strapped to them? They say that they're not compatible by any stretch

There's 6 standoffs on the backplate that need to be drilled out to 2.5mm. You can then use longer screws that go throught the backplate>pcb and screw into the waterblock standoffs.

 

it's an easy mod, but you'll need a drillpress to reduce the chance of damaging the backplate.

A bit more detail for future reference:

 

These are the standoffs that need to be drilled out to 2.5mm. You'll need 6 screws, m2.5 x 7mm or 8mm. 

 

To put it together you attach the backplate to the pcb using the screws & standoffs that you didn't modify (don't forget to plug in the rgb header). Then fit the waterblock, and finally insert the m2.5 screws through the modified standoffs.

 

I have a zxr soundcard in the slot above one of my strix cards, the silver screws with the large heads prevent the soundcard from lining up with the pcie slot, i had to use the low profile black screws for that area (those screws came with the ek block).

Almost done. I just fired it up for the first time. I'm waiting on some cables and adapters to go in the back so i can thin out the wires coming from the psu, got some cable combs but they didn't fit so waiting for another set. Also need to give it a good clean.
