New PC Build

Hey guys,

I am compiling a list of parts for my build with a budget of $1200 approx. I have almost settled on the parts, and just wanted to check if the parts are ok and if anything can be compromised with to reduce costs. And if the selected parts are not the best bang for the buck, please try to suggest recommendations. I am by no means a pro gamer, I play some light games and want to get intro more heavy AAA games. I do a lot of editing in Adobe Creative Cloud 2017 apps like After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop etc. I currently have a BAD HP mouse and random membrane keyboard. So have to include that in the budget.

Is delaying the whole build for Ryzen and Vega worth it?

I agree with this.

There's no point in only getting the 3GB model.

Giving an advice on how he could go with a 1070 is not ordering him to go with it, the GPU power can assist on Adobe Premiere for instance while the 6700 is still decent for rendering and he did say "want to get intro more heavy AAA games"

I really like your advices therefore I like you but I do not feel you should go over everyone's "ideas" trying to counter them so harshly you never know what will really caught the OP eye and giving variety (as long as decent ones obviously, some people will just give crappy builds true) is always welcome [:

I'd say wait for Ryzen but not Vega. Vega is coming on Q2, so it will take time.

Did NOT expect thses many replies tho.. Thanks!

FIrst of all, I DID consider getting a GTX 1070 with a 7600K. But, I settled with the 1060 3GB Varient and the 7700K. Once Ryzen comes out, i can save a few bucks on the CPU and get some additional headroom for upgrading some parts or buying better peripherals.

I'd strongly recommend getting a 6GB variant.

Even I wanted to go for a 6 Gig model. But, budget constraints and all. Furthermore, in my case I want more CPU power and as I saw in benchmarks, the 3 Gig was only 4-5 FPS below the 6 Gig.

There will however come a point where games require more than 3GB, and that's in the foreseeable future.

A mechanical keyboard isn't at all necessary, and a 25% price increase on the GPU isn't really justified by an extra ~5% in performance you'll get from the 6GB model, even at Ultra settings.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

RYZEN HAS ARRIVED.

Intel Core i7 7700K

Ryzen 7 1700

The 8 Core 16 Threads will be a huge improvement over the 4 Core 8 Threads.

Although clock sppeds are 3.0 Ghz - 3.7 Ghz, i am all for the extra cores and threads. And its at $329.99.

And, I think there is a proessor-only version which is 20$ less. So, expecting it for $309.99

One more question. I have not considered buying any case fans for the build, and I was wondering if the NZXT S340 has enough fans pre-installed. Also, is the case good for a first time builder?
