weird monitor resolution

When I got my PC to replace by xbox, I bought a monitor, (a Samsung C24F390 to be exact), because my old monitor only supported VGA. Now lets go forward to yesterday, I looked at my display settings and saw 3840x2160 as a resolution, clicked onto it and set everyting at 100% text size. Titanfall 2 recognised it, and with the power of benchmarks there was a difference in performance of my 1060, so I ask this question, with th emonitor being advertised at 1920x1080p is it safe to run at 3840x2160, (and yes I know that this is a 4k standard resolution)
