SSD not showing in boot order options

Spev

So I have an SSD and an HDD. I have windows 10 on my SSD. I created a linux partition on my HDD today (not entire drive, just partial). Now that I have 2 operating systems I'm running into issues. In my BIOS in the boot order it doesn't show my SSD. But it shows my HDD and DVD drive. So I can't order my SSD over my HDD. HOWEVER, when I click on boot options it recognized my SSD & I can just click on it and it'll boot right up. However...without going into the BIOS and clicking on that, it just defaults to my HDD, which now has an OS on it, going right into Linux. So right now the only way I can go into Windows is by manually going into the BIOS and clicking on my SSD to launch...as it doesn't show up in the boot order options........................motherboard is Asus z-97a. Help! Thanks.

I had a similar problem:

I had a HDD and SSD plug in. I did a fresh windows install on my SSD while windows was still installed on my HDD. I somehow could not boot from my SSD.

I found out that only my HDD had a MBR while my SSD didnt. So i had to manually disconnect my HDD from my PC while installing windows on it. Worked...

Do you have GRUB installed?

Have you checked if the SSD will work without the other drive?

I've had this happen before, fixed it by 2 ways: 1) Resized the partition simply by dragging the line or whatever all the way to the right giving me back all of my data storage and/or 2) I had to format and repartition.

Yeah. I've probably had this problem for a long time & didn't know. I only had 1 OS before so it defaulted to it. The OS on the SSD works just fine. It's shown in the BIOS but not in boot order....but I can manually boot from a device, and from there is shows my SSD, and it works fine..

I didn't even partition the SSD at all. I partitioned my HDD. So the SSD is untouched.

Asus's bios is a little funky. Youll have to go into the advanced options in order to change which boot devices show up in the boot order. I know its under the boot tab, however I forget the exact way to do so. Ill shut down and check it out in my bios
