There is surprisingly low info about this, all I could find is that it's an aluminium frame that cools the memory chips

Good news peeps,

I sanded the nickel finish down to see the unmistakable hue of copper. Whew. this cooler is safe for liquid ultra :)

and I hereby claim the title of discoverer of the coppery nature of gtx 480 heatpipe design ;)

hey peeps,

I was wondering what material is the heatsink of the gtx 480 made of? is it aluminium or nickel plated copper? it seems to have heatpipes that directly contact the gpu core. I want to use liquid ultra on this card and repurpose it for something else.

Cheers :)
