Trouble with 3rd Storage Drive

Hi guys,

I am having some weird troubles and I dont really know what to do. Been bashing my head against the wall without knowing whats going on. I recently bought a new SSD, pluged it in with SATA 6GB/S and looked into my BIOS and everything was fine. Went into my Disk management window (google translation) and yeah... its not showing up in black D:

No idea what I did wrong and I couldnt find anything like this anywhere?

3rd party tools do detect it though? It's likely just not formatted or formatted in an improper manner for windows, use something like partition wizard or whatever tool you like and reformat it.

Agree with above, if showing in device manager but not in disk management, the probelm in theory should be that windows doesn't like how it's formatted. Have you checked that it doesn't need a driver though? right click in device management and check for drivers.

idk, usually it shows up with the black bar on top and can be formatd, right? This is not showing up at all. the first drive is my 1tb storage drive and the second one is my first SSD with my system loaded. (my second SSD with ~480gb isnt showing up at all

Could be wrong, but it's just something else to check is all.

Seems like it may need a driver then. You might want to also reconnect the ssd, the cables may have been loose and simply became disconnected or windows may have unmounted the device entirely. You could always try a live boot of an OS more capable of handling drives, but since partition wizard didn't even detect it I doubt that will help.

the SanDisk Dashboard says its fine too and has his full 6GB/S. The automatic windows drive installation has been running for 10min now. nothing at all? I couldnt find any drivers on sandisks HP or google. only the frimeware?

Cable was bought together with the SSD so its brand new off of amazon. I can reboot with another cable but so far this is it...

uhm, its just saying its lookin for a driver for half an hour now and reattached all the cables and swapped them left and right. still same status. Can the drive just be defective?

OK! It seems like the drive is just busted. I did buy a second of the same SSD for my lil bro and his is working perfectly fine on my PC. Did a safety check on mine and nothing. poopy but what ever I guess. gonna return it to amazon  then. should have been sceptical because of the cut in the packaging and what not!

Sorry to hear that the drive didn't work out and is broken. At least you had your bro's drive to test to see if was the same.

With the DHL thing, yeah it's shitty how the condition some things turn up at the house delivered is abysmal with rips, holes etc.. I have had a few of those myself, not usually form DHL though. I'm not defending DHL, but that little tear in the packaging could have actually been done at Amazon, and is very unlikely to have been the cause of the SSD not working... SSDs are pretty robust as they have no moving parts and are less inclined to exterior damage. It's much more likely a chip fault, or traces on the PCB that has caused the fault or soemthing. Are there any signs of damage or wear on the actual SSD?

Anyway, at least you bought from Amazon, they have been fantastic with me in the past for returns of faulty stuff... just the last few weeks I had to return some powerline adaptors that I had had for nearly a year as they were not working properly, they accepted the fault immediately online and issued an immediate refund, even before getting the stuff returned to them :D

Anyway, good luck, and hope you get a replacement for it quickly.
