GTX 1080 SLI (used 2x) VS Single 1080 TI / AMD GPU

TheNaitsyrk
Go to solution Solved by App4that,

Not worth arguing over. People who hate on SLI are usually parroting what people paid by manufacturers to sell hardware say. So of course they'll think SLI is bad. It takes away sales.

The 1080ti will not happen until a AMD card matches the Pascal Titan X.

Really depends on the game but the max increase over a titan XP seems to be in the 30 fps range with the games getting in the 10 fps range at its lowest. This varies on the type of game though. I still wouldnt say it REKS OMFG do you even game bro! a titan XP but it does outperform it by a good margin. Two 1080ti's if the tred of the xx80ti cards being slightly cut down titans continues the 1080ti's will actually REK a titan XP. After looking at the benchmarks Id say the average fps boost over the titan XP you get from having two 1080's is in the 15-25 fps range.

You are talking about 1080 TI vs 1080? Your posts are so unclear I can't even.

This thread is not about Titan XP but 1080 TI (not coming out) VS buying 1080's 2x to see if it's a good idea?

Besides the point: 1st video shows not overclocked 1080 in SLI. Pointless benchmarks, it's not apples to apples.

2nd video shows that dude is using Founders Edition 1080 which isn't even overclocked. It doesn't even reach 2050 Mhz like most of them do. Bad comparison yet again.

3rd video is from the exactly same dude. Lovely variety.

4th video... Good video. Differences are more like 20-25. Later on when these cards get older, 25 FPS is a massive difference.

Lastly, I said I'd buy USED not NEW. Therefore I'm paying less already, and I wouldn't buy reference stuff, only factory OC.

1. its a fps range thats all I gave and it changed based on looking it up to findout numbers more specifically.

2. I wasnt talking about specific fps number on the 1080ti because I cant, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know the 1080ti will beat a 1080 duh

3. Pricing varies though based on rumor and from how things were priced in the base for xx80ti cards they were about 400 usd cheaper then the titan. Seeing as the 980ti was 600 and that the current 1080 is is 600 it makes sense to me theyll charge about 800 for a 1080ti. Never said it was fact anything said about the 1080 ti is speculation at best except that it would beat a 1080 that is just common sense.

4. If your shelling out for two 1080's chances are you can afford all of 300-400 extra if the pricing is to believed.

You need to colm down buddy your posts come off as pretty hostile for no reason, did someone piss in your coffee this morning or something?

People nowadays are so emotionally weak they think everything "sounds offensive" UGH.....................

1. You said benchmark therefore you took it from somewhere and I believe you referenced 1080 TI and not 1080.

2. Reread bold text I marked. It makes no sense, your response makes no sense also.

3. "Pricing varies though based on rumor" - Not interested in rumors, only facts. It's obvious that 1080 TI is going to be better than 1080. The original question was: Wait or buy 1080 SLI.

4. No, I cannot "shell out" extra £400, unless I sprout it from the ground. Stop assuming things.

FYI: Original idea came from this exact video:

Likes to dislikes ratio is very even, that's why I decided to ask here, to clarify / investigate this idea further.

Duh two 1080's are better then a single titan X for about the same money. I would still wait and see what the vega and 1080ti can do. In the time it takes for them to even announce then release the two you could easily save 25 a week or bi weekly and have more then enough for two new cards (or wait till there are used on the market) and have some money left over. (im assuming you already have the money for a single titan XP or two 1080's, and dont have either of the two right now.)

Other Stuffs: Red sleeved cables, White LED lighting 2 noctua fans on cpu cooler and Be Quiet PWM fans on case.

Thank you for giving the final concise answer. Yes... 1080 SLI is way to go for now. Thanks, I'll start looking for good deals. I seen some recently.

Yeah than id just wait and save wait and save to see what better things the future holds. Good things come to those who wait. An the vega and 1080ti are going to be interesting to see. Its better to wait and save and see what you want after the two are unveiled at least.
