6500 + z170?

For some reason, I already owned a z170 mobo and now I am getting a i5-6500. Should I connect all 8 pins for CPU or can I just connect 4 pin? Or should I buy another mobo?

Just plug the 8-pin in.

What was your previous cpu?

Connect the 8-pin.

If you are lucky enough your mobo may not have the microcode update from intel and that 6500 will overclock fantastically.

Save up for an i7 6700K man, what's your current CPU?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

why does he need a 6700k when he can get a 6600k?

Because it's overall not much more money and you'd never need to replace the i7 variant

Z170 doesn't generally imply low budget
