What is your takes on the Eve V, the Worlds First Crowd Funded Computer?

It is over 1600% funded and it seems like a really cool idea. Though I believe it would be really easy for them to mess it up. They also claim to be "Crowd Developed" but there is no way to suggest things to them so it seems like they saw what was wrong with a surface and decided what they thought would be what others do. It does sound like good hardware though.

I'd like to make a crowd funded phone but I feel like that would flop badly since I don't know any contacts in the industry and don't have huge mountain piles of money.

This seems like a cheaper surface. If I was considering to buyou  surface I would definitely consider this.

Well supposedly Intel is backing them as well. It might be successful but I'll wait until it comes to market to see what happens.

Pretty much just a Microsoft surface, They are cutting corners somewhere inside of it to sell it for that price, prepare to be disappointed.

It uses a Core M instead of real Core i5s and i7s......

 

And also the profit margins are probably smaller.

only the base one has a core M the others have an i5 or an i7

You're wrong. They are all 4.5w CPUs. They may be called i5 and i7 but they are not the 15w ultrabook CPUs.

I din't realize that, but after looking at the specs of the core m i7 it seems to be the same specs.

It says SSD above in the specs, i doubt it's anything worse than SATA.

They're not cutting corners, Microsoft just overcharges to keep their partners competitive.
