So DICE was not kidding about the 6600k requirement for BF1

I just played the first campaign mission and 1 round of conquest of BF1. After watching several videos on youtube I was confident I could run BF1 on ultra 1080p 60fps with my i3 6100...NOT

I was getting 75~ fps in campaign, but online it drops to 45~ fps and sometimes 30 something. All cpu threads to 100% all the time(uber bottleneck I know). This game is very cpu intensive, even more than GTAV Im sure.

 

Basically if you have a lower end or older cpu you are screwedOh well, I was going to get a 7700k anyway.

That is defiantly bottlenecking your 1060, I would upgrade soon.

You should check your CPU/GPU usage while gaming, might be a sign of Bottlenecking as you mentioned your CPU was hitting 100%.

I mean its ultra settings on a brand new AAA title. I wouldn'e expect a 1060 to get 60 fps anyways. But yeah, an i3 would probably struggle as well

That's already showing a bottleneck. There's no 'might' about it.

 

Imma pin this to show to people who believe gaming on an i3 is still fine.

lol even my R9 280 gets 70-90 fps on everything ultra.

Do you have it set to dx11 or 12.  Apparently , the 1060 works better with the former in the game.

But maybe hes fine in other games, its just battlefield games which are highly CPU intensive.

My 1060 6GB with an i5-6500 easily hits 60FPS+ maxed out in mulitplayer (1080p).

 

My brother has an i3-6100 and 960 and hits 60+ FPS on medium to max graphics (multiplayer).

 

An i5-6500 should be good enough for BF1 with that GPU.

running in dx11, i did not even bother with dx12. I will try running lower settings

I don't think any newer games plays too nicely with dual core processors anymore.

(Haswell locked i5 4690) 3.5Ghz (BF1 has my CPU between 3.5-3.6Ghz Turbo flux)

I don't really see it under 50% on multiple cores...across all of them,...about 70-85% usage (75-80 AVG)

99% GPU Usage @ 1080p Ultra with 70-100FPS so I'm happy with the performance.

CPU performance stays the same at 1440p as well 55-70FPS (which was expected) with similar 70-85% CPU loads.
