1080p 60fps hdd playback

So i recently changed my shadow play settings to record at 1080p 60fps with whatever the high bitrate preset is. These videos were set to save onto my hdd, but every time I tried to watch them they would stutter a massive amount to the point where it is unviewable. I then transfer some videos to my raid 0 ssd array, and they all the sudden played back fine. It seems like the hdd doesn't have fast enough read times to play back the file, is this normal? I would rather not save video files to my ssd array as drive failure is twice as likely and the stress of writing all of those videos may shorten the ssd lifespan.

Yeah HDDs are slow.

And no your SSD is fine writing a bunch of videos, it will live longer than you do.

That's coming close to pushing the limits of HDD speeds.  Otherwise you have to defragment your drive.

The drive gets auto defragged weekly, I'm sure its just to close to the limit for hdd speeds.
