Is this a burn on my MoBo ?!

I just open up the case to replace the cpu cooler and found what appear to be a burn or something on my fairly new MoBo (i build the system less tham month ago)

_9d53.jpg+

full specs:

i7 6700k

Z170I PRO GAMING

Corsair SF600 sfx

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3200

Samsung 950 PRO 512GB PCIe NVMe

SilverStone Mini-ITX ML08B-H
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7970

is it possible that it devloped from the heat since the case is fully cloesd from the back of the MoBo also there is m.2 ssd near the spot ?

the pc works fine but made my worried

what should i do ?

That's not a burn and a M.2 ssd won't be hot enough to cause any damage, that looks like corrosion or something

It is hard to tell from the picture, often in motherboard manufacturing there are residues left on the boards which are not properly cleaned off.

If it works, don't worry about it.

Did you inspect the board closely when you got it, it is possible that you are just more attentive to it now. Does it wipe off?

I do recall seeing patches of residues all over my ROG Strix X99 board before I built my system. It however did have some burn marks on the board after the magical smoke escaped from the VRM though.

Lol, resale value is now non-existent.

Looks like either flux residue or corrosion.
If you could get a higher quality picture it would be easier to tell, are you able to wipe it?

Can you see the exact other side when looking inside the chassis?

I wouldn't use it on the motherboard. It's a different material than the heatspreader on the CPU. I wouldn't get too upset over the residue that's on the motherboard at this time - as long as everything works, I would just enjoy your build.

If you touch it, can you feel any of the residue?

Can you take another picture with the residue removed?
