I thik they are the same :)

1060 = 980

1070 = 980 ti

1080 = titan X maxwell i guess

performancewise

so you are better to get the newer 1060.

So honestly, it would just be better in general to get the 1060 because new stuff features and energy efficiency? 3:

I think the 1060 is between the 970 and 980. Some OC would get it to the 980 level, but the 980 could also be OC'd so...

Pascal has a lot of new features that may be interesting for you. I would honestly go for the 1060, the main feature that brings my attention is Fast Sync. It's also efficient af.

Well i think the 1060 is much better Overclocker than the 980 so i think you might get them on the same level even if the 980 is oced.

Research would get you better info, but here goes some of what I know:

VSync with triple buffer should get rid of VSync's delay, the biggest problem, but for n reasons, it doesn't. Fast Sync does it at driver level, decoupling the render pipeline and display pipeline to be able to choose which frames will be displayed and which will be thrown away. The GPU keeps rendering as many frames as it can, but not all of them are displayed, to keep frames been sent to the display at it's refresh rate to avoid tearing. Since there's no backpressure holding the GPU, you won't get as much delay and won't get tearing. If you don't have a GSync monitor, this may help, but I'm not sure about compatibility with games.

I'm not sure about that, Pascal cards can get pretty impressive OC numbers, but considering the base clock is already high, the % difference isn't as big as it seems. A 160Mhz offset would be 10% or less. I think the 980 would keep the edge even when comparing OC, but may be a smaller advantage.

Yeah that might be true. Still the difference is too small.

OP TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION

The biggest thing to take into consideration is future upgrade, with 1060 YOU CANT UPGRADE TO 2 GPU SLI LATER!

I would honestly not care about this. SLI is a mess rn and a pure lottery, you may get -10%, 0%, 20%, 50% or 70% more (or less) frames. Support is very poor, so I wouldn't spend double the money to sometimes/often have a card sitting on it's PCB doing nothing. I would sell it and get a better single GPU in the future.

Why not get an RX 480? Save some money and get similar performance, and way better performance in DX12/Vulkan titles. :3

not everytime but you still would have the upgradability, thats a nice suggestion.

Honestly though guys owo I was meaning just as a folding card.. I know thats alot for one job but.. I think it will even out if I were to donate the money :3 I'd rather know where that donation money goes. So SLI isnt that big of a problem..

As for the 480, maybe owo

Judging by what i can find it looks like the two

are somewhat comparable. Which has one

the edge over the other, if they will stay that

way with newer drivers or which one has the

best chances for a decent overclock i don't

know though.

980 might just have the edge over the 1060,

but again, overclocks and drivers, can't say

for sure.

overclocks and drivers will get the 1060 on par with 980, 1070 is on par with 980ti thats what i said, so with the 1060 and 980 and ok 1080 is better than titan x maxwell.
