Another post about buying a microphone

Araphen

My friend just moved into an apartment complex where the neighbors blast bass filled music and bang on the walls constantly.  On top of that he has a loud mechanical keyboard, loud computer fans, and a terrible webcam microphone.  He's also the DM for our D&D group so our Friday nights aren't looking too fun at this point.

I'm looking at buying a $50 mic for him to help with all the background sounds and I was looking for suggestions and advice.  I've already looked at the snowball, but all the review videos don't show it being used for background noise, but for amateur voice acting and guitar recording.

I was also looking at the modmic v4 and found a lot of helpful reviews, so I think that's what i'm leaning towards.

More ideas are always welcome though.

Modmic omnidirectional would work.

Or, get a dynamic microphone, not a condenser like the snowball.

Do you have any to suggest?  I don't know much about microphones in general.

If you were in my situation, would you buy the modmic or something else?
