Cable Modding | Just the right amount

I know this topic has got to be beaten to death by now, but I know we have some serious pros in here who can help me get some cables for my new PC. So, I would like to have zero unplugged/extra connections. I am unsure of how many cables I would need and how long to have them made. I am ordering from CableMod.

So is there a typical length that works pretty well? and how can I plug everything in without having extra unplugged connections. My RM100i has so many unplugged connections with the default wiring.

Here is what I am working with that requires power:

Case: Corsair 600c Inverse

Mobo: Asus x99pro

SSD: SAMSUNG 850 Pro

GPU:  Nvidia 1080fe

So I shouldn't have much extra cables, but do people sleeve the cables that connect components to the mother board?

Thanks Linus Fam

Could just take a string,  tape it by it's plug and run it the way you want to (dont forget about the real wires bulk when running it) and go to the place where it needs to.

Then take it out, measure it and convert it to MM(millimeters).

I did this with an ITX rig to cut down on cable clutter. I also used some psu cable extensions from a previous build to simulate the bulk of the real cables.

YMMV though.

Jupp, remember to add some length, i made my cables from scratch just to try, and the 24pin was slightly to short, so i endet up turning my PSU around to make it fit.
Did the whole thing to dont have a ITX box of cables.

Cool, Ill use the string and measure the wires.

Now what types of power connections do my components need?

1080 needs an 8 pin PCI-E IIRC

motherboard needs a 24-pin ATX

CPU need either a 4 pin or a 8 pin, depends on the motherboard, not sure if it uses the PCI-e cables but its similar to that atleast

SSD needs a single SATA power one

case i dont know but i would guess either SATA or MOLEX

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
