Will GTX 1070 make my i5 4670K bottleneck?

Hi guys!

I'm going to buy a GTX 1070 soon, but I don't know if I should upgrade my i5 4670K

My i5 4670K is watercooled by a CoolerMaster Seidon 120M but since I've never tried Overclocking I don't think I'm going to start now though.

But I need to be sure before buying that my CPU will be fine related to the new titles: Doom, the new WoW and some more future games.

Or am I better off investing in a new CPU, or wait for the next new CPU?

Might want to consider overclocking just a bit though could squeeze a few more fps out of it. Will be very helpful in WoW

You cant really damage your cpu by overclocking no matter what the voltage or speed it is, but if you put it too high your pc will crash and when you reboot everything will be fine. There is a lot of videos on how to overclock.

Unless you leave the voltage on auto and allow it to get crazy high or set it to something above 1.375 then you can't really mess it up and if you do just reset the BIOS and be back to normal

A quick google of "x board with y chip overclock" should yield you good results or at least get you close to a nice starting point.

Games that are heavily cpu bound like gta 5 might see a slight hit,  but otherwise,  you're fine,  and you'll get well over 60fps anyway

Highly CPU intensive titles such as ARMA 3 and planet side 2 may cause slight bottleneck, but its nothing to worry about. You will still be able to play them nicely.

at what resolution?

that's the most important question as to wheter you should get a GTX 1060 for 1080p gaming or a GTX 1070 for 1440p gaming..

 

EDIT: nevermind i just seen you answered this already...look...the GTX 1070 is a bit over the top for 1080p gaming in current games...but would serve you well in future games so if you care about maxing out games in 2017-2018 then get the 1070. Might not get the full potential out of it right now with current games at 1080p...but games will evolve and in the future will give it a full workout.
