3-50C temperatrure fluctuation

I am fixing a computer and the processor goes from 3-50 at idle, and it just goes all over the place constantly even when im not doing anything. The computer shuts down because of this. I bought a new heat sink and used the thermal paste on it so i do not have too much. any ideas?

from 3-50? holy crap thats a big flux, are you sure its not a motherboard issue? or even just the temp sensor on the motherboard. Those are my thoughts, how old is the computer?

Do you have some sort of overheat protection enabled? It could be a faulty reading which then tells the computer to shut down, when in reality it's not overheating at all. Does the heatsink feel warm to the touch after the system shuts down?

3-50? or 30-50? Just to get it confirmed... 3-50 = a sensor is defect somewhere. Get the CPU or Mobo replaced.
