Best cpu right now for gaming?

Hi, so I want to upgrade my already setup build, check my profile for details.

So I want to buy a cpu/mobo combo for the best gaming experience, to max all games, (for example black desert, tera, some AAA titles that require cpu etc.)

What should I buy? Not really willing to pay a fortune but I want the best value/price combo.

I have seen plenty of suggestions around, like 6700k i7 or some i5s but I just want to do stuff all people do on their pc, I also do some 3D design from time to time, but mostly gaming.

Currently I cannot run the games above, also cannot run heroes of the storm probably because of cpu.

So anyway , the subject is what should I buy, I am open to many suggestions but please explain why I should buy what you suggest, instead of others, for example the 6700k.

I maybe require to go more than 4ghz of course. (High End mode in black desert is too demanding on both cpu and gpu, I need horsepower but not something ahead of the current time).

I do not need tech enthusiasm gear, just the ones that will max all games and the ones that are best suited with my current build, I am specific when I ask for only cpu/mobo and maybe psu combo.

Under 500$ but of course I do not have the amount yet, just setting a cap on the price just in case someone suggest something too fancy. I seen amd cards being virtually more powerfull but have low scores so I do not know what i should buy, we aim for single core powerhouse but of course the more the better in some uses.

So I said my needs and what I want it for, I hope it is described well.

Thanks in advance.

You won't notice an upgrade in games at the moment - your CPU is not holding you back

under $500 would be either the 6700k or the 5820k or you can go the used route and do a dual socket E5 2670 Xeon build the mobo and CPUs and memory would easily be under $500

It does, people say so, because it is a xeon version.

In tera I get 30-40 fps, on low.

In heroes of the storm around the same, and bad load

The best 'gaming' CPU would be the i7 6700K but it sounds like the i7 5820K is more suited for your needs.

People say a lot of things. Open AB. Is your CPU pegged at 100% usage? If so, then there's an issue, if no, there is no issue. Though seriously, you not being able to run HotS? That sounds wrong - my old ass Athlon ran at 30fps and even a Pentium gets 100s of frames in that game. It makes 0 sense and makes me think your drivers are screwed

Games are using 24 cores nowadays. Single cores are meaningless if you don't have the work threads to cope. 5820K is around 40% faster than the 6700K

i7-6700K you do not need more than 6 to 8 threads for gaming! :)

Yes it does, I was told douzens and trillions of times that it has issues in gaming, besides that there is no other thing I could consider, you can search for me here and check on the long lasting issue. Moving on, I guess there are things to be improved regardless.

lol ok but would you think its OPs drivers that causing the poor performance issue? if not and if OP wants a new build then would you recommend him to just pick up a E5 2670? i mean he does have a 2011 board right? since hes using a sandy bridge xeon. like litrally an e5 2670 would be a good cpu for content creation with its 8 true cores and dirt cheap price tag

Games use 4 cores most of the time, I know its bad optimization but thats how they are released.

Games use a LOT more than 4 cores nowadays. And I am 99% sure your issues are driver-based, not CPU-based. Try using DDU to install 361.75 and see if that helps. Again, your CPU is a very competent one. I doubt that is bottlenecking - hell, it's more powerful than quite a few i5s and peopl are using them just fine

I doubt it's the CPU - the Sandy Xeon clocked that high should be more than capable.

just search for me and you will read, search my username and fps issue or stutter.

Moving on.

I would say that I need it more for hardcore gaming, visually hardcore maybe, something to run along with my gtx980 or future cards.

Games use 4 cores most of the time, I know its bad optimization but thats how they are released.

when i record using OBS with the fast x264 preset and play bf4 my cpu is pinned at 99% along with my GPU. and i have 24 logical processors in my system so id say a dual xeon would be if you are a content creator like me

Please refer to this for changing subject:

moving on, whats the best for gaming , is it 6700k? and with which one mobo?

according to that thread and the AB screenshots the issue is NOT the CPU - it's barely at 40% usage. The issue is your GPU

Lets say I am a gamer and I want to turn the machine into a gaming machine, to max everything, consider the parts I already have.

Besides what I was told in the forums, douzens of them.

I also was told that from dell themselves that I shouldnt run games and instead use it for work because it is not designed for games.

What cooler are you using on your CPU?

Wow, I ran Tera on an i5 3570K (stock, 3.4 GHz) and have a R9 280.  I ran that game at near max settings with a solid 60FPS, and dips into the high 40s around 1% of the time.

Check the "bottlenecking" thread - his CPU is at 70*C at low usage. My bet is overheating
