I Just Want To Know Will This RUN??

Hi there! Im just a 16 years old gamers that want to build my own pc for the first time.... And i'm wondering will my system will work with one another? Here's my system that i'm thinking to use to build:

1. CPU: intel skylane i5-6600 LGA1151

2. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-GAMING 3 LGA1151

3. Memory: Gskill DDR4 TrindentZ 2x8GB DDR4 3400Mhz

4. Storage: 2TB seagate internal HDD

5. Video Card: GTX 1080 (founder or costum edition, hmm)

6. Audio Card: ---

7. Optical Drive: ---

8. Cooling: --- (using the cooling from the case)

9. PSU: Corsair CS550M 550W

10. Case: NZXT Guardian 921 RB

Done?? I dont know will this run or i miss anything xD

11. Display: Asus VP247H

Actually i only have budget around $1500 more or less... and you guys can help me change one of my system if you want!

Maybe add an SSD?

Thanks for the fast reply, SSD for the OS do you mean? I dont think my budget can fit for another SSD xD

Yes it should work, but you should add an SSD with that kind of a budget.

To save yourself some money, switch your motherboard, you have a locked processor and the chipset on that board is for overclocking.

Ditto to adding an SSD.

Also since you're not getting a K version of the processor, you should look into seeing if one of the B150 or H170 boards are a better fit. They're cheaper than Z170s and there's pretty much zero performance difference if you're worried about that.

I'd get slower RAM. Faster RAM doesn't really improve performance in most things. DDR4-2800 or so is the sweet spot, but going down as low as DDR4-2166 isn't bad either.

Here is a good start.  I left out the GPU, I recommend getting an aftermarket cooled GPU.  Do not buy that FE crap.

This is just the tower, and it is selected to sit near the highest end of the performance spectrum for PCs:

i5-6600 or i5-6600K ??

If you are just going with the "regular" i5-6600, then there is no real reason to get with a Z170 chipset based motherboard -- unless you plan to run multiple graphics cards, etc.

Cooling...as in CPU cooling.

The i5-6600 will come with a stock Intel cooler, BUT the i5-6600K will NOT have a CPU cooler included.

Nonetheless, the included heatsink will do for the i6-6600, but the chip will run a little *warm* when under load.

You may or may not be able to have your RAM run at the rated DDR4-3400 speed.

The "official" supported speed for 'Skylake' is DDR4-2133. Anything beyond that will require overclocking of the Integrated Memory Controller (IMC). Like overclocking anything, "you mileage may vary."

Please don't get a Corsiar CS series power supply -- especially with a $2000 price build.

Get some of the best components available, but "cheap out" on one of the MOST important component in ANY PC. The power supply. The spine / backbone of your computer.

You can use PC Part Picker and it will attempt to detect incompatibilities and will let you keep track of prices and if you missed anything.

First issue I see is the i5 6600 in a Z170 motherboard.  It will work, but that CPU can't be overclocked but the motherboard is designed for overclocking so it would be a waste.  either get a 6600k CPU or an H170 motherboard.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

You may want a beefier PSU for a 1080, I have a 4690k overclocked at 4.2ghz and an overclocked Zotac GTX 970 Amp Omega Core edition and it shredded my 600w PSU...

Yeah im kinda thinking to go 6600k actually but it will increase more cost + we need to buy the cooler.... Idk will my budget go through it... Actually in my country the price of the items will be increased due to the import taxes... So i cant go depend on pcpartpicker to keep in track to the price...

The 80 PLUS efficiency does not tell the WHOLE story of a power supply.

You need to look at the build quality, the design, and the the customer support behind it.

I left the GTX 1080 out of it...because "Founder's Edition" is just...no.

Wait for the aftermarket, custom cooler versions.

@stconquest Ethoo Pro M -- which is the Mid-Tower version.

I chose the Full-Tower, Windowed version instead.

The case, at the end of the day, is 100% your choice, though.

For storage, I went with a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO (SATA III version), and a WD Caviar Black 7200 RPM 1TB HDD. You can choose a different HDD if you want -- your choice.

I threw in an aftermarket CPU cooler -- Cooler Master Hyper 212X.

Have you CPU run THAT much cooler while during those summer temperature gaming sessions.

DDR4-3000 TridentZ RAM instead.

Lower latency + lower voltage is better than a slightly higher frequency, IMO.

As mentioned above, there are many factors to what PSU you should get, including the obvious like power output, and the less obvious like build quality.  Note that being 80+ rated is no indication of build quality, so please remember to research that separately.  If you'd like to see how much money you might save using an 80+ efficient PSU though, check the link in my signature :)

Right.  I was just hinting that 2133MHz RAM is cheaper:  http://pcpartpicker.com/product/jzfmP6/kingston-memory-hx421c14fb2k216

I'll just throw this in here:

I don't think you need a GTX 1080, grab a $400 GTX 1070 and have a blast on this 2560x1440 monitor:
